Frisco Rail Yard to become upscale railroad-themed food truck park

FRISCO, Texas — Frisco is looking to capitalize on the latest culinary craze with an upscale food truck park. The concept calls for a rustic outdoor vibe, live music and a rotating mix of gourmet food trucks centered around a railroad theme.

Under the proposal, the Frisco Rail Yard would lease nearly a full block from the city and its Community Development Corporation. The property on the northeast corner of First and Main streets is next to the old grain silos and BNSF Railroad tracks. The site will help to connect historic downtown with the booming Frisco Square area and event traffic at Toyota Stadium.

“Frisco needs this,” said Greg McDonald, who is working on the project along with Kristy McDonald and Tamme Leff, the owners behind the city’s popular 5th Street Patio Cafe. “As much growth as we’ve had here, we don’t have that cool spot yet. That’s what we’re trying to bring.”
