Texas middle market companies outperform nation (TX)

TEXAS — Despite sluggish oil prices, Texas middle market companies are still booming, outpacing the rest of the nation in revenue and employment growth in 2015 and projected to remain the country’s leader in 2016, according to a recent national study.

The study was conducted and published by the National Center for the Middle Market, which is produced by Ohio State University Fisher School of Business. Companies that meet the definition of middle market are those that earned annual gross income between $10 million and $1 billion.

Texas middle market companies grew a whopping 8.2 percent in revenue the past 12 months, compared to a still strong 6.1 percent national rate. Additionally, employers in Texas grew their workforce by 7.8 percent in 2015, with the national market coming in at 3.6 percent growth.
